Six best friends who drifted apart a few years ago after coming up the ranks together in the San Francisco Police Department reunite in their new roles (detectives, a prosecutor and a police captain) to solve the mysterious murder of the seventh member of the once-close group. In the process, old rivalries and romances are re-ignited…
[JD] In his early to mid 30s, gruffly handsome, driven to succeed, divorced with two kids, and still hung up on his police captain ex-wife Katherine, this detective assembles a team to solve the murder of his friend and fellow cop Kevin, who was also JD’s training officer. JD feels guilty that he and his friends drifted apart over the past few years, possibly leaving Kevin vulnerable to some bad influences, and he has trouble accepting the fact that his former best friend Peter, an ex-cop turned prosecutor, is now dating Katherine. JD’s workaholic lifestyle is what caused the rift in his marriage, but it’s also what makes JD such a good cop — and the reason Katherine wants him overseeing Kevin’s murder case…SERIES REGULAR (1)
[KATHERINE MILLER] In her early to mid 30s, beautiful and hard-working, she’s the only female police captain in the city, and she feels the stress of juggling a personal life and career, fearing that no matter what she’s doing, she’s neglecting something else. Katherine is loyal to and protective of her friends, sometimes to a fault. She’s divorced from JD and has two kids with him. Despite the complications that may ensue, not to mention their possibly still-romantic feelings for one another, she asks JD for help solving their old friend Kevin’s murder, and she feels awkward about revealing that she’s currently dating Peter Callahan, JD’s former best friend who always carried a torch for Katherine…SERIES REGULAR (1)
[PETER CALLAHAN] In his early to mid 30s, with movie-star good looks and expensive clothing, he is a cop-turned-Assistant District Attorney whom juries adore. Peter is stunned to hear that his old friend Kevin has been murdered, and he teams up with his former friends JD, Walker, Maureen and Malcolm to help solve the case and prosecute the murderer. Peter has always carried a torch for police captain Katherine, but he waited a year after her divorce from JD before asking her out. The love triangle between Katherine, Peter and JD is fraught with tension…SERIES REGULAR (6)
[WALKER MCRAE] In his early to mid 30s, African American, handsome, this detective was suspended because of a drinking problem but he’s newly sober and reinstated to his post in order to help his once-close friends JD, Peter, Katherine, Maureen and Malcolm solve the murder of their other friend Kevin. Despite JD’s attempts at hiding it, Walker can instantly tell that JD wants to reunite with his ex-wife Katherine…SERIES REGULAR (5)
[MALCOLM GOLD] In his early to mid 30s, rumpled, bearded and cynical (but secretly romantic), hoping his beard compensates for his slightly receding hairline, this detective was Kevin, the murder victim’s, partner for the past three years. Malcolm and Kevin were a well-respected team, with the highest clearance rate in the district. Since the last time he saw his once-close friends JD, Walker, Peter, Katherine and Maureen, Malcolm quietly got married, but he wishes Maureen were his wife, as he’s loved her from afar for a long time. Malcolm isn’t happy to have a new partner, Tess Flynn, on the force with him…SERIES REGULAR (7)
[MAUREEN MINILLO] In her early to mid 30s, sexy, wistful, and perennially single, this lonelyheart is saddened by the news that her friend Kevin, whom she romantically idealized for many years, has been murdered. Maureen works as a civilian secretary at the police precinct. She once had a fling with Peter, but both of them recognized that they were using each other as substitutes for the ones they really wanted (he wanted Katherine, and Maureen wanted Kevin). All the while, Maureen was the object of Malcolm’s affections, and still is…SERIES REGULAR (7) SUBMIT ALL ETHNICITIES
[DETECTIVE TESS FLYNN] In her late 20s and beautiful, she is Malcolm’s capable new detective partner who must prove herself to him because he’s hurting over the death of his previous partner, murder victim Kevin. While sensitive to Malcolm’s loss, Tess reminds Malcolm that his other cases are equally important. Tess is curious about the group’s friendships, and she bonds with Maureen about their bad choices in men. Sparks may fly between Tess and JD…SERIES REGULAR (17)
